1. There shall be one surgeon, one assistant surgeon and one intern. There may be up to 2 hospital stewards, up to 12 attendants, up to 20 stretcher bearers, and up to 10 nurses.
2. The surgeon shall serve as commander of the 6th KY regimental field hospital and, as such, shall be responsible for the actions of any and all participants in the hospital.
3. The ranks of one and all shall be as follows:
a. The Surgeon shall hold the rank of Major.
b. The Assistant Surgeon shall hold the rank of Captain.
c. The Intern shall hold the rank of Lieutenant
d. The Stewards shall hold the rank of Sergeant designated by a green chevron.
e. The Attendants shall hold the rank of Private.
f. The Stretcher Bearers shall hold the rank of Private.
g. The Nurses shall hold the rank of Private.
4. All persons involved in the 6th KY Regimental Field Hospital shall put forth their best effort to portray the original participants of the American Civil War in an honorable manner as befits the memory of the people we portray. They shall also do their best to treat one another in a fair and equitable manner and with every kindness that is possible. They all shall also follow these suggested guidelines:
a. During public hours, the hospital and camp should look and sound as historically accurate as possible.
b. Before and after public hours, items from the 21st century may be used and displayed in the hospital and camp.
c. After 11:00pm, the hospital and related camp shall be as quiet as possible to allow participants to obtain adequate rest.
d. Family participation is welcomed and encouraged but children under 16 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
e. All State, County and local laws and ordinances shall be obeyed, especially those relating to the health and welfare of minors (e.g. smoking or drinking).
f. Violations of State, County and local laws and ordinances may lead to summary dismissal from the hospital ranks.
g. Internal disagreements should be handled quietly and privately so as to not dishonor the people we represent.
h. Remember, we are here to serve and educate the public about Medical Science as it was practiced during the 1860's.
5. The surgeons and the stewards may carry side arms if they choose to do so. Uniforms should reflect the CSA in the early western theater of the war. The only required piece of equipment for members is a canteen.
Any questions about these guidelines should be directed to the commander of the Hospital. These guidelines may be changed, added to or deleted from by a majority vote of the membership. Any and all suggestions will always be entertained.
