The 6th Kentucky, and therefore its field hospital, was involved in most of the major battles in the western theater, including:

Shiloh

Baton Rouge

Stones River

Chickamauga

Atlanta Campaign

The Brigade started at Dalton on May 1 1140 strong. 
On 1 September the brigade could muster only 240 men in the
ranks.

South Carolina Campaign
January-March 1865

The Orphan Brigade surrendered by order of Gen. Joseph Johnston, 25 April 1865. Only 500 of the original 4,000 members of the brigade remained. They were paroled at Washington, GA,  6-7 May 1865
