We are a small but determined group of reenactors who portray the field hospital that was attached to the 6th Regiment Kentucky Volunteers in the Army of the Confederacy. We camp family style and with some degree of comfort while trying not to accumulate and carry too much equipment (no mean feat). We welcome women and children to our unit as well as the men, as long as the children are accompanied by an adult.
The hospital unit travels to reenactments in Kentucky, recently having added a few events in Indiana and Tennessee. On average we attend 1 or 2 events a month from May to October. These are primarily small events, and we frequently see and work with other reenactors we have come to know and call friends.
We are affiliated to some degree with the following units:
6th Kentucky Infantry Co. C
Buckner's Battery
5th Kentucky infantry
The Hamilton Guard
Morgan's Battery
These units help us in our portrayal of a working field hospital, often serving as patients and malingerers, friends, visitors, and camp followers.
If you attend reenactments, look for us and stop by and chat. Visitors are always welcome, and we will answer any questions to the best of our abilities. We are well informed on 19th century medicine, medical procedures, treatments for various illnesses, and dentistry, and on women's fashions of the period if Miss Z is accompanying us.
